Folkestone Writers was founded in 2009 to provide a forum for local authors, both published and unpublished. Our activities include:
Meetings at which members discuss literary and related topics including the thriving local arts scene.
Publications including The Folkestone Anthology of which three issues have so far been produced containing mainly short fiction but also poetry and ‘true stories’ based on personal experience.
A short story competition which is run in conjunction with the Folkestone Book Festival, winners being announced and prizes presented at a fringe event.
A Newsletter with notices, progress reports (re publications, and the short story competition), members news, theme for next meeting, etc.
Literary Lunches organised by one of our members at the Tavernetta, an upmarket Italian restaurant − for local authors, friends and invited guests. There is always lively conversation, news and views, and maybe a short presentation under the general ‘arts and books’ heading.
