FOLKESTONE WRITERS are running another competition this year, in connection with The Folkestone Book Festival, for stories of 1500 to 2000 words. No particular theme is specified but stories should appeal to an intelligent adult readership.

The winning stories and perhaps a dozen others, if suitable, will be published in The Folkestone 2020 Anthology (a) if the winners (or a nominated proxy) can turn up to receive their prizes and read their stories at a Fringe Event to be held on 20th November at 3.00 p.m. at Sunflower House, 45 Foord Road, Folkestone; and (b) all selected authors agree to purchase two copies of the Anthology and will then receive a third copy free.

FIRST PRIZE £100              SECOND PRIZE £50

Stories must be the author’s own original work, as yet unpublished and not submitted elsewhere. Entries should be on A4, 1.5 line-spaced, with one-inch (2.54 cm.) margins. First lines of paragraphs should be indented 0.75 cm and no line spaces between paragraphs.  Generally use single quotation marks and only use double quotes for quotes within quotes. Use English UK (not US) and  where alternative spellings are available prefer e.g. burnt to burned, civilise to civilize. Please check the Anthology section for advice and guidance on submission.

Email entries as Word docx attachments to; or post 3 copies to John Sussams, 14A Castle Hill Ave, Folkestone,CT20 2QT

Is this current? It seems as if it may be concerning last year , there are no year dates. This s a shame as a website could be an excellent way f keeping up to date and in touch
